Program Overview
The faculty team, comprised of national thought leaders, will address the latest clinical data emerging from recent meetings in the area of breast cancer, including appropriate test practices to determine HER2 and hormone receptor status, current treatment guidelines for locally recurrent and metastatic breast cancer (MBC), as well as options for treatment-resistant MBC in recurrent breast cancer patients.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners who have an interest in enhancing their clinical skills in the management of metastatic breast cancer.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the necessity of HER2 and hormone receptor status in choosing initial treatment for locally recurrent and/or MBC, and explain the considerations in choosing among different assays and laboratories
- List and classify the most promising current as well as new and emerging therapeutic options for ER+, HER2+ and triple-negative locally recurrent and/or MBC patients, including special considerations based on individual patient risk factors
- Summarize the latest evidence-based guidelines regarding management of locally recurrent and/or MBC with attention to optimal sequencing and combination of agents
- Develop treatment plans for locally recurrent and/or MBC patients tailored according to hormone and HER2 receptor status and previous response to treatment
